The art of surfing

How we coach surfing at Waluaa

Surfing is more than just popping up. It’s about understanding the ocean and your place in it.

At Waluaa, it’s not rushed, forced or ego-driven. It’s coached in small groups with patience and kindness.

During our signature surf retreats, we immerse you in the core skills that build real confidence and real ability. So when you head off on your next vacation, you’re not starting from scratch. You actually know what you’re doing.

Because everyone can learn to surf… provided they’re taught the right way.

Most lessons take place at Playa Estero, a warm sand-bottom beachbreak. It’s uncrowded, consistent and ideal for learning. When the swell is on, we move to Santa Catalina Beach for gentle peeling waves. Intermediates may also surf La Punta nearby.

Yes! Because you’re not just catching waves. You’ll learn positioning, technique and wave reading, plus receive daily video feedback so you understand exactly how to improve.

Surf groups are capped at 10 surfers, with a 2:1 surfer-to-coach ratio. This way you get real attention, not lost in a crowd.

We have waves year-round! December to April often brings more beginner-friendly conditions, though swells can surprise. May to November usually sees bigger swell, but we have a few sheltered beginner spots too. We schedule retreats around tides and seasons for the best learning.
